Ask the students to imagine “ We are in the zoo, there are many kinks of animals here.” Then ask a student to do the model with you: Let’s see the lions first. Why? (why do you /does she /does he like lions?) Because they are cute. ( two/three students a group) Stage6 Culture

Koalas and kangaroo only live in Australia. Doves stand for peace. Stage7 Homework: Do a survey

Give each group a chart and ask them to fill in the chart after talking about animals. Then write four sentences about it.

Step1 Revision

Brainstorm with students a list of jobs that friends or family members do. Then list new words of jobs and teach students. Step2 Presentation

1. Teach students the new language (what do you do? I am a …; Where do you work? I work at /in….What do you want to be? I want to be a/an…)by using the scenes in activity 1a. Then let students practice the new language in spoken conversation.(work with partner)

2. Show a photo of my family, then introduce the members’ jobs. Teach students the new language (What does he /she do? He /she is a/an… where does he/she work? He /She works … What does he/she want to be? He/She wants to be a/an…) .Then ask and answer about their family members and friends’ jobs.

Then listen and fill in the chart:

Ask and answer questions about the chart. Like the following dialogue:

A:What does Anna’s mother do?

B: She is a bank clerk.

A: What does Anna’s mother want to be?

B: She wants to be a policeman.

Step3 activity 3a

Talk about the jobs (waiter, nurse, bank clerk, policeman, reporter),then look at the pictures and match the jobs with the people in the pictures.

Play the recorder and repeat them.

Read and practice.

Look at the pictures and recite the passages.

Step4 Say something about your favorite job, and let others guess what it is.

Step5 Homework:

Write a passage about your ideal job and the reasons you want the job.

2.语法结构:The Present Progressive Tense,

3.语言目标:掌握 What are you doing?等句式及其回答。

二、教学重点和难点

1、重点:词汇——read, clean ,talk on the phone, apartment 语言结构——What am I doing?

What are you doing?

What is he / she /it doing?

What are they doing?

及其回答,并注意动词现在分词的变化规则。 难点:现在进行时的结构。

Step1. Warming up and Lead-in

1.Greet Ss as usual, tell them what they are going to learn today:

The Present Progressive Tense,

2.Act out some activities to lead in and teach the new words.

eg. open the door. T: –What am I doing? Ss:–You are opening the door.

talk on the phone T:- What am I doing? Ss: You are talking on the phone

New words: read clean talk on the phone

3. Ask students some questions.

T: What are you doing? Student A: –I am listening. T: What is Student A doing? Ss: –He is listening.

4. Show some pictures to the students to present other sentence structures:

What is he / she /it doing? --He/She/It is…

What are they doing?—They are…

In this way to revise some names of activities.

Step2 Match work (P25:1a)

(1) Show a picture with an apartment to the Ss and ask: What is this?–It’s an apartment.

Teach apartment / happy.

(2) Show the picture on Page 25 to the Ss and say, This is a happy apartment. There are many people in it. Today is Sunday. Many people are at home.Now, look at the pictures.Work in pairs to ask

and answer questions like this:

S1:What is the boy in picture e doing?

S2:He is talking on the phone.

(3) Ask Ss to match each word or phrase with one of the pictures quickly. Then check the answer. (d–a–b–c–f–e)

Step3 Listening (P25:1b)

(1) Point out the names of the people.

T: I’m a member of this apartment. Let me introduce the neighbors to you. (show the pictures to them) Jenny Dave Mary John

(2) Listen

T: What are these people doing? Listen to the recording and write the number of the activity each person is doing.

(3) Check the answers.

(4) Pair work

T: Suppose you are one of them. Make a dialogue like this: A: What are you doing, Jenny?

B: –I’m watching TV.

(5) Invite some pairs to act out their conversations

Step4. Guessing game

This is an oral review of the vocabulary and other target language.

(1) Let one student does an activity and the others guess what he /

she is doing?

(2) Guessing Game.

Show some pictures to the students and let them guess: What’s he / she /it doing? He / She /It is …

What are they doing? They are…

Step5. Conclusion
