in an innovative way

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I’m the contestant No.4. It’s my honor to speak here today. I feel really excited now, this moment. My name is Zhang Xiaoli, majoring in international economy and trade class 1.

Today, my topic is——Transformation of mode of development of economy in an innovative way.

Before my presentation, I’d like to share something with you. When I was a child, I can easily find sparkle stars and the bright moon in the evening as well as see birds flying in the sky. However, it has changed completely nowadays. When raising my head, what is left to me is just a dreary sky with dark cloud, no birds, no stars and no bright moon.

But,why? What’s wrong with our homeland? Now, let me show you what have happened. In the past decades, to chase the increase of GDP, factories have been built up one by one, chimneys have been taller and taller, and polluted water is everywhere, from rivers to oceans. Eventually, forests are destroyed, birds are no home to be back, fishes start to extinct, pollution become more and more serious and people suffer from disease day by day. To change this, prosperous areas transform

their industries to those undeveloped. Sadly, tragedy comes again and again in poor areas. In the past, people in poverty suffered from starvation but now as well as deadly illness. People can’t reach safe water and even children in some regions can’t reach the age of 5, owing to infection leading by pollution. When seeing this, how’s your feeling? And what do you think?

To avoid the tragedy, I really urge not only our government, enterprises, but also we, the ordinary folks, need to pay attention to transform the mode of economic development in an innovative way. I dream that, one day economic development is not in the price of our health and safety any more, one day people has no need to battle with disease caused by pollution, and one day when I look into the sky, birds, stars, and the moon can smile to me.
