Abstract

Thedevelopmentofresource-basedcitiesisacommonproblemallovertheworld，whilethesustainedandsound

developmentofresource-basedcitieshasbecomeoneofthemostprominentissuesinChina．Inordertolearnfromtheoreticalstudiesandpracticalexperiencesofstudiesabroadonresource-basedcities，thisstudycomprehensivelysummarizestheresearchesonresource-basedcitiesinthewest，referringtotheliteratureswhichwerecitedfrequently，andotherrelatedstudiespublishedrecently．Andtheresultshowstheresearchprocessabroadcouldbedividedintofourstages，namelyinitialstage，improvementanddevelopmentstage，transition-focusstageandstagefocusingonsustainabledevelopment，andeachstageholdsspecialfeaturesintermofresearchcontext，researchcontents，theoreticalbasis，researchfocus，andsoon．ThenananalysisiscarriedouttocomparebrieflyrelatedresearchesinChinaandotherforeigncountries，whichdemonstratetherearedifferencesandconnectionsintermsofthedefinitionofmainconcept，urbancharacteristics，relationshipsbetweenminingcompaniesandcities，aswellasmeans，traditionandprioritiesforcorrespondingstudies．Atlast，somesuggestionsareconcludedtoimprovethedomesticstudies，aimingtoconstructstudymethodsandtheoreticalframeworks，whichmeettheneedarisingfromnationalconditions，andmorespecifically，thecharacteristicsofresource-basedcitiesinChina．Keywords
