How to Bridge the Generation Gap

Nowadays, the generation gap is unavoidable in almost every family, which brings about a number of conflicts in a family. What can we do to bridge the generation gap? In my opinion, the key is the mutual understanding of parents and children.

On the one hand, family members should discuss openly about their pleasures or sadness in a proper situation. Once children are aware that their parents didn’t have a good upbringing during their hard childhood, they will stop complaining about parents’ out-of-date ideas. Meanwhile, once old generation realize that young people grow up around a new modern culture, it is easy for them to comprehend young people’s habits and hobbies.

On the other hand, people of each generation should not overestimate themselves. In order to do that, they should not think that they are the only right person in their family. Teenagers should realize that their parents have to struggle with pains to support them financially, and they would stop revolting their strictness. Also, parents should stop imposing their own inappropriate thoughts on their children.

In conclusion, I strongly believe, if all members cooperate to establish a close family relationship with caring and honesty, each family will enjoy a cozy atmosphere.
