Abstract

In today’s society, the urban population increases unceasingly, the cities become bigger and bigger, urban public transport system are also developed rapidly. As the typical representative of the small-capacity urban rail transport system, the tramcar plays a very important role in people’s daily life. The tramcar is suitable for the scale of relatively small cities, with the characteristics of large capacity, low cost of operation and construction, non-polluting to the environment, quickly and comfortable.

As one of the most important equipment of the tramcar, braking system must have the characteristics such as safety, fast and accurate. Performance quality of braking system, whether relates the tramcar synthesis technical level and the movement quality of enhancing, more importantly, it relates to traffic safety of the tramcar.

In this paper, it introduced the tramcar braking system's composition, the principle and how to control it. It mainly includes the basic concepts of brake, characteristics of tramcar braking system, the working principle and control method of all parts of the braking system, like air braking, electric braking, complex braking, spare braking, braking command transmission and so on. Consulted the braking system of tramcar named “Dalianren”, I designed this tramcar braking system. The system uses microcomputer control electro-pneumatic brake, it’s mainly constructed by air braking and dynamic braking, with the functions of normal braking, emergency braking and park braking. Use complex braking which compound of air braking and dynamic braking while nomal braking, use dynamic braking first, and use air braking as supplementary when dynamic braking can’t meet the requirements. Use pure air braking while emergency braking.

Through this design, we can get some results: the braking system of this paper can meet the requirements of all braking situation of new kind tramcar.
