非语言交际在中西文化中的对比研究

摘要：

语言交际与非语言交际行为共同组成了人类的全部交际行为。其中，非语言交际行为扮演着非常重要的角色。据统计，非语言交际行为占到人类全部交际行为的75%，甚至更多，因为非语言行为能传递出语言行为难以表达的内涵，意念和感情。然而，同语言行一样，作为一种人类交际方式，非语言交际行为必然受到其文化的影响。一方面，不同文化中存在着不同的非语言行为或同一行为在不同文化中具有不同的涵义；另一方面，不同的非语言行为或内涵也折射出了不同的文化特征。因此，非语言行为与文化密切相关。本文首先对非语言交际与文化进行详细分析，进而将非语言行为融入中西不同文化类型中进行系统的对比研究。通过这些对比研究进一步提高人们的跨文化理解力与交际能力。

Abstract：

Human communication consists of verbal communication and non-verbal

communication, and the latter plays an irreplaceable role in the whole communication. According to Samovar s research, more than 75% human communication are performed in non-verbal ways because they can convey the deep ideas, feelings and emotions which verbal ways cannot do. Meanwhile, as a kind of communication, non-verbal communication will be influenced by culture. On one hand, different cultures have different non-verbal communication. On the hand, different non-verbal communication reflects different cultural characteristics. Therefore, a contrastive study of non-verbal communication in different cultures is very necessary. This thesis mainly talks about the differences of non-verbal communication in Chinese and Western culture. The author starts with the basic knowledge of non-verbal communication and culture. Then, non-verbal communication of the two cultures will be analyzed and contrasted in many cultural aspects. The author concludes that some knowledge in cultural differences would definitely enhance communicative ability and intercultural competence.

1. Introduction

Nowadays, communication takes place everywhere and in every minute. Speaking of communication, many people will think of human language just because language is mainly created for communicating with others. However, there is another significant tool for human communication, which is named non-verbal communication. According to the scientific study, human communication consists of 25% verbal communication and 75% non-verbal communication (Samovar 155). This shows that non-verbal communication plays an irreplaceable role in human communication. Therefore, whether you fully understand the non-verbal communication or not, it will decide the success and failure of your communication. For example, when a Chinese talks with his boss, he always avoids the direct eye contact in order to show his respect. However, in western countries, if someone does that, the speaker will feel that he is not interested in the topic, and the speaker will be very embarrassed.
